The roles on the Afterfirst MCA team and what each one owns

Owners and brokers: see who owns each step of your file.

The Afterfirst MCA team is organized by role, not by personality. Each role owns one part of a file's path, from the first read of the statements to the offer comparison. This page names the roles and what each is accountable for, so merchants, brokers and funders know who handles what.

Why does Afterfirst list roles instead of names?

Afterfirst lists roles because the work is done by function and a role stays the same when people change. Emails from the desk are meant to be signed with the sender's role, and every file has one named contact who can be reached through the contact page.

Which team roles handle a file?

Four roles touch a file, and two more support them. While the desk is small, one person may cover more than one role.

What the file desk checks first

The file desk checks that deposits on the statements match the revenue on the application, and that every recurring debit is either explained or listed in the stack. Gaps go back to the merchant or broker before any funder sees the file.

How funder relations keeps boxes current

Funder relations asks each funder to confirm its box on a regular cycle and records every change with a date, so a file is never matched against stale criteria.

Offer review and the side-by-side sheet

The offer reviewer puts amount, total repayment, pull amount and frequency, term and fees in the same columns for every offer, and flags anything unusual in writing.

Legal questions the desk does not answer

Compliance questions that need a legal answer are not answered by the desk. They are referred to a lawyer.

The compliance role tracks state rules such as those the California DFPI describes for commercial financing disclosures.

FAQ

Can I speak to a person about my file?

Yes. Every file has one contact at the desk, who can be reached through the contact page.

Does talking to the desk cost anything?

No. Questions to the desk are free, and applying asks for no payment.

Who at the desk sees my credit information?

The desk reads your application and bank statements. For anything about credit, ask each funder how any credit review works before you sign.

When will someone from the desk reply?

The desk answers in the order messages arrive. No reply time is promised.

Which role checks my existing advances?

The file desk lays out every open advance in the stack table. Offer review then checks that each new offer accounts for them.

Who is accountable if something goes wrong on a file?

The file's named contact is accountable for getting it fixed. Complaints can also be sent through the contact page and are reviewed outside the file's own thread.
